Managed company operating largest internet site for musicians through boom and bust of internet economy. Raised venture funding of more than $10 million, sold e-commerce operation to raise capital, negotiated away more than seven figures of debt after internet crash, raised $500,000 of Round B of venture funding in 2002, handled all business development, launched new website and email products despite severely limited funds, brought company to profitability, and negotiated sale of company assets for mid-seven figures in 2005, returning 4x to Series B investors.

Founder and President, zZounds Music Discovery Centers

1997 - 1999
Founded internet and offline retailer of musical instruments. Grew from founding to more than $1 million monthly in sales in less than 18 months. Merged with Harmony Central, Inc., the largest content site for musicians, to form HarmonyCentral.com, Inc. zZounds remains in business under new ownership as the second largest internet retailer of musical instruments. I conceived concept and wrote business plan, obtained bank loans, hired and trained staff, acquired leading lines of musical instruments and recording gear for sale over internet, and negotiated and oversaw merger with Harmony Central.

As clerk to Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court justice drafted opinions and dissents, helped review cases for certiorari and otherwise assisted Chief Justice Burger with legal matters as requested.
